 Isolate and maintain cultures of bacteria or other microorganisms Performs disk diffusion and MIC testing on specific strains of bacteria Prepares Media and Biochemical Reagents Operate Biobase Autoclave  Properly disinfect testing areas, gowns, gloves, masks, glassware, containers, and tools needed for microbial testing.  Monitor inventory of microbial reagents and other supplies Ensures all microbiology equipment are properly maintained and calibrated as per schedule.  Performs a variety of microbiological procedures in order to cultivate, isolate and identify microorganisms in Blood, urine, skin scrapings, exudates, transudates, body fluids, discharges and surgical specimens. Verifies accuracy of findings, identifies test inconsistencies, and takes appropriate action to make corrections and resolve problems.  Sterilized and maintains safe disposal of culture media and other items.  Prepares and updates SOPs and monographs for use in Microbiology Laboratory Uses WHONET application for Antibiogram Data Uses Vitek machine for the identification of organisms and compares results to Biochemical Test and Manual Procedures in identifying organisms Performs Gram stains, Acid Fast Bacilli stain, India ink, KOH wet mount and interpret results accurately.  Accurately performs and documents Quality control every twice a month in Vitek Machine and makes decisions to accept values or troubleshoot the procedure before results are released.  Performs Quality control for selected antibiotics use in every type of Strains Updates data and Antibiogram for Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance Program every month Perform Swabbing (wound culture, nasopharyngeal swab, oropharyngeal swab, Eye Discharge) Performs Quality control for every Reagents used and in every Prepared Media and Biochemical Reagents
