A Thunderbirds air demonstration is a mix of formation flying and solo routines using F-16 Fighting Falcons. The team performs about 30 maneuvers during a show with the entire show running about an hour and 15 minutes. The Thunderbirds squadron consists of eight pilots (including six demonstration pilots), a flight surgeon, executive officer, maintenance officer, and public affairs officer, plus three civilians and more than 130 enlisted personnel in 25 career fields. The "Thunderbirds" are a selectively manned unit that plans and presents air demonstrations to exhibit the capabilities of Air Force combat aircraft while displaying the professional skills of those who fly and maintain those aircraft. Supports recruiting and retention programs while strengthening community relations. Capable of rapid reconfiguration for combat employment worldwide.As the “Thunderbirds” Maintenance Officer, led 96 personnel in the maintenance of 11 F-16C/D aircraft and manages assets valued in excess of $286M. Directed aircraft maintenance and logistics effort for all Thunderbird deployments, official air demonstrations, and home station maintenance and operations training requirements.
