Carles Sala (Barcelona, 1980) is an architect, urban planner and designer, founder of the Barcelona based practice SALA FERUSIC Architects, recently named as a Young Emerging Spanish Architectural Office of 2014 by ‘Arquia / Próxima Foundation’ in Spain; as well as the team THE WILD SALMON Architectural Curiosities, acknowledged by FAD in 2008 for the young talents programme "Professionals en Incubació". He graduated with Honours from the ETSAB in Barcelona and later obtained a Masters in Advanced Architecture and Urbanism at the AA School of Architecture in London, being granted by "La Caixa" Foundation.His research On Time and The Plug Inn have been awarded with the First Prize at the International Festival of Architecture EME3 and the First International Prize ACXT IDOM, as well as acknowledged by the Board of Trustees of the UPC Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.He directs and teaches at the AA Barcelona Visiting School, as well as he currently works as a First Year Tutor at WSA-Cardiff University. He has previously lectured at the AA School, ETSAB Barcelona, URLL Barcelona, UB Barcelona or ETSAM Madrid and taken part in International Juries, such as AA School or the Bartlett UCL. Professionally, he has developed several works such as Lagravera Winery, First Prize 3M COAC, Lagravera Winery's Warehouse, BASF Sustainability Award and Mas Rodó Winery, Finalist at the FAD's National Awards "Vivir con Madera", as well as projects like El Repartidor Square, Second Prize in the Open Competition, or the Srebrenica Museum, Honourable Mention at the International Competition. His work has been published by architectural journals such as AV Proyectos, On Diseño, Quaderns, Fundación Arquia / Próxima or ArchiPrix / A10, while it has been exhibited at the MIT Boston, AA Architectural Association in London, Spain Lab at Venice Biennale, X Bienal Española de Arquitectura y Urbanismo, Circulo de Bellas Artes Madrid, CCCB or FAD in Barcelona.
