About Carleton Tsui

I combine the discipline of software engineering (particularly front-end development) with user experience design to create products that help people achieve their goals. Throughout my career I have consistently taken on three roles (sometimes simultaneously).Engineer. I have over 14 years of full-stack software engineering experience from prototype to production development on n-tier web application systems. I enjoy making elegant things and simplification of complex systems. My specialties are user interfaces, front-end architecture, and API development. I have been coding since my parents bought me a computer at age 11.UX Designer. I excel at synthesizing user research into designs by understanding user goals and mental models and applying deep interaction design experience. I work with stakeholders to define measures of success critical to understanding whether solutions actually address user needs. I leverage my engineering expertise to create high fidelity prototypes that allows for usability testing of complex interaction designs and workflows.Leader. My effectiveness stems from clarity of technical and product vision. I hire and performance manage teams if that’s what it takes to achieve the mission. I know how to subdivide large scale problems to workable units for engineering and design. I simultaneously balance technical feasibility, user experience and aesthetics, business objectives, and the strengths and weaknesses of the team. I do my best to make sure that the people I lead are getting the most out of their experience.
