As a simulation patient I play a roll as patient for the education of medical students of all years. The student conducts a verbal or physical assessment and afterwards I give feedback on their communication skills.

The Kinderchirurgie is a ward of the Erasmus Medical Centre - Sophia Childrens hospital, where children with neurological disorders are treated. I work here as a medical student, which means that I relieve the workload of the nurses where I can. Apart from that I provide parents with supplies for the care of their children and assist where needed.

Our research focuses on the expectations and experiences of children regarding their anaesthesia and procedure. Together with children scheduled for a procedure at the Erasmus MC - Sophia Childrens Hospital we are developing a questionaire in order to gain an insight in what children expect of and experience during their treatment. The end goal is to improve the care and communication in order to better prepare children for surgery and anaesthesia.

As a medical student at the emergency room I keep the place organised and filled with medical supplies. We bring admitted patients from the ER to their ward and in emergency situations, bring blood supplies from the bloodbank to the ER and OR.

An important factor is to make a risk assessment of a patiënts problems in order to estimate a time frame for an appointment. Additionally I performed administrative duties for the practice.
