Together with law partner Andrew Garcia, Carlin founded Phillips Garcia Law, a boutique law firm that focuses on plaintiffs’ civil litigation; wage and hour cases; workplace discrimination and sexual harassment; consumer protection; class actions; estate planning; and small business representation.One of just a few local graduates from Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyer’s College, an elite school for training trial attorneys, Carlin learned his trial skills first-hand from Gerry Spence and his hand-picked staff of trial attorneys. Carlin argues in state and federal district courts across the country on behalf of plaintiffs and class representatives against big banks and insurance companies. Carlin continues to use the advanced trial techniques learned at the Trial Lawyers College in the preparation of his own cases. He handles and prepares complex civil cases for trial, such as the locally publicized case Pelletier v. Town of Somerset, with an initial verdict of $1.85 million. Carlin focuses his attention on cases involving discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace, as well as employee-side wage and hour law. He has won many impressive settlements for his clients and is proud of the important policy changes he has negotiated to the benefit of not only his clients but also future employees at several large companies.
