This new position takes a key role in fostering innovation throughout the institute. This includes taking on the responsibility of managing and growing the newly established Discovery Innovation Program and Fund as well as identifying and developing further educational programs within the Institute to embed innovation culture at the core of how we operate.

The Florey Institute’s Enterprise and Innovation team comprises professionals with formal qualifications in biomedical research, law, intellectual property law and business management. As Program Manager my key responsibilities include:• Design and management of commercially focused translational research programs. • Developing commercialisation strategies to support advancement of Florey technology to treat neurological disease.• Support protection of patentable intellectual property, and the commercialisation of early-stage research outcomes, including licencing, fundraising and company creation.• Oversee and support Florey scientists in partnering strategy, generation and protection of project IP, and monitoring project status, risk, and mitigation strategies.

• Delivered research outputs to support intellectual property development and commercialisation of treatments for stroke.• Facilitated collaborative project management to engage experts across multiple disciplines to address fundamental questions underlying stroke biology to develop and test targeted therapies. • Enhanced the institutes engagement and reputation through conference attendance, public lectures, media interviews; local/ international committee, editorial boards, grant review panel participation. • Fostered a cohesive, committed & high-performing team culture, to enable people to create an engaging and high performing work culture.• Provided strategic planning and policy implementation to support diversity and address inequities associated with the COVID-19 crisis, through active leadership in the Florey Equality in Science committee and Parkville Women in Science committee to create 2021 rebound grants. • Developed a Scientific Service to provide expertise and knowledge in the field of pre-clinical stroke research, to design and execute proof of concept studies on behalf of industry clients.
