Responsibilities included setting strategic direction for the QA organization, developing and implementing the QA process and tool infrastructure necessary to ensure an efficient and effective QA process, resource allocation of QA resources amongst the various projects, monitoring QA progress on the various projects, as well as ensuring that QA personnel received adequate training and mentorship.

Major tasks performed included setting the strategic direction for each department, hiring the necessary resources, planning and scheduling the tasks necessary to implement the strategic direction, and monitoring the tasks to ensure their timely completion. Additional responsibilities included the management of the software process improvement initiative. The primary goal of this initiative was to implement processes consistent with the Software Engineering Institute’s (SEI) Capability Maturity Model (CMM).

This included setting direction for process/quality initiatives, managing their definition and implementation, as well as, ensuring that their requirements were adhered to on various projects. Systems supported were client server based. Some of my significant achievements included:• Process Improvement - Managing the implementation of a process improvement program in order to comply with the SEI’s CMM Level 3 requirements. This effort has demonstrated an increase in the quality of the software produced, and has also demonstrated a decrease in the amount of time required to produce the software.• ISO 9001 Certification - Successfully managed the ISO 9001 certification process for several Development organizations. ISO 9001 is the International standard for Quality Management Systems.
