I have had the opportunity to reassess my career and the IT industry is still at the top of my career choice list, I am therefore looking for The Ideal Role(tm). I decided to spend a year renovating my house. The plan was to do all of the things I had thought about doing but were too large to be handled during weekends and holidays. This involved medium sized earthworks outside to create a usable back yard and interior remodelling to create an open plan kitchen. Achievements:Drove Career Development program for team resulting in four staff gaining externally recognised TOGAF certifications in IT Architecture Achieved fourfold increase in team productivity through the Continuous Improvement Program. Identified and templated the most common customer request types so the minimum of variable information was required for each request. Pre approved the templates to minimise end to end request processing. Implemented centralised Architectural repository to improve project implementation time and reduce rework. Based on IBM Rational System Architect with TOGAF aligned metamodel. Enabled consistent capture, tracking and resolution of Requirements, Use Cases and Architectural Decisions. An iterative design process incorporating customer requirements, feedback and direction fed into a cost model that would be priced and presented as a base contract to the Client for signing.Implement projects within agreed financial boundaries and timeframes. On contract acceptance the solution progressed to detail design stage, often in parallel with the project implementation. Architectural oversight remained until Client signoff completed. Maintain Thought Leadership role for Clients and IBM Internal teams. New processes, tools and techniques reviewed and implemented according to Client business requirements. Maintain and develop the Unified Management Infrastructure (UMI). This was a precursor to what is now Platform as a Service. Predefined standard options on server, storage and network capability could be matched to the application requirements. The role included equipment selection, supplier management, procurement planning and processing as well as non-disruptive installation and upgrade planning. Achievements:Drove between $1.2M and $2.5M NZ per annum in Incremental BusinessImplemented IBM Global Delivery Framework. A variety of methods based on Lean Six Sigma were used to achieve productivity improvements through an intense 19 week re-engineering program. These efforts resulted in a fourfold productivity improvement for the Architecture Team.Developed an Architecture Competency Maturity Model as part of a Client Service Improvement Plan (SIP). The information gathered during this exercise was also used as input to the Global Delivery Framework.Implemented a variety of tools in response to CI feedback. These included business collaboration and workload assignment (IBM Connections Suite), business process modeling (IBM Blueworks Live) and a centralised architectural repository (IBM Rational System Architect).
