I never thought I would end up in accounts receivable. Not when I loved working with people, enjoy getting to the bottom of discrepancies, and also have such an affinity for numbers. I always thought I was going to be one of those crime scene investigators or a detective. But then I went to work at a call center at Chase Bank. I found myself talking to people, getting to the bottom of situations with past due accounts and helping people get back on track with payments. I got really good at that. I became a team lead and got my first taste of management. Loved that, too. Then I expanded my receivable knowledge by gaining experience in collections with trucking, manufacturing, and now food. I've since gained additional experience with credit management, evaluating and extending credit. I really like that part of my current position. I am also knee-deep in the world of accounting for retail grocery stores. I am tracking promotions for coupons, advertising expenses, and new food item placement expenses when the company I work for gets one of its items placed in a grocery store for the first time.
