As Interrail/Eurail's CEO, I've spent the last decade working with our Supervisory Board, a community of shareholders from 33 countries, and an international team of talented colleagues to revamp the core heritage of our 60-year-old product – a railway pass that allows travelling across the European continent. My background as a financial professional and corporate lawyer, coupled with an MBA and Master's in CSR and over two decades in the travel industry, has empowered me to navigate Eurail through the complexities of the travel industry with a strategic, adaptable approach.In my 10 years, we’ve changed the perception of our product to be more than a ticket for youngsters to travel across Europe. It’s now a cultural and social rite that is also appreciated by families and seniors who enjoy experiencing authentic and diverse Europe with a slow travel mindset in a sustainable way. Our pass is also a tool that helps connect with European values. Multiple stakeholders, including the European Parliament and the European Commission, have embraced our purpose by offering Interrail for free under the DiscoverEU programme. The COVID experience put us in a difficult situation. Still, it was also an incredible opportunity to focus even more on our purpose and implement new tools, such as our mobile pass, now valid in 33 countries. I like to create and implement new business ideas with a strong purpose, contributing to building a better society. I enjoy being at the forefront during the early stages of a business cycle and reshaping existing businesses (Enneagram, type 7, enthusiastic visionary) while generating trust and stakeholders’ commitment to the vision.As a leader, I embody persistence, diplomacy, and tranquillity. I champion long-term challenges with a vigilant eye on sustainable outcomes. My conviction is firm: a vision without an action plan is useless; however, an action plan without a sound vision is very dangerous.Like Eurail traveller, I have endless curiosity, conscious that every day we have is a gift and that there is always a positive side of the world that deserves to be discovered.I’m always eager to connect with like-minded professionals, innovators, and organisations who share our vision.
