Development of an state-of-the-art Interdigitated Back Contact (IBC) silicon bottom sub-cell to be integrated within a tandem solar cell architecture with a perovskite top sub-cell in a three-terminal structure as my master thesis project.The main conceptual challenge of this prototype is how to adapt the surface of the silicon sub-cell so surface recombination losses remain low while being compatible with the deposition of a perovskyte layer, maintaining a high absorption. One of the highlights of this concept is that uses standard, readily available industrial processes, and its potential large-scale production would be almost immediately cost competitive, while potentially improving the energy generation of solar cells by ~30% respect to current commercial technologies without significantly increasing the price.
