I am graduated in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences from the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra and I have a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Research from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. Currently, I am a PhD Student enrolled at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra in collaboration with the Imperial College London. In addition, I am part of the pan-european consortium EIT Health Ageing PhD School.In 2014, I participated in an ERASMUS+ Mobility Programme to develop part of my BSc dissertation at the Sahlgrenska Academy (Sweden) which resulted in one scientific article publication and several oral/poster communications in scientific meetings. During my MSc dissertation I was able to learn and work in the extracellular vesicles (EVs) field. I was able to introduce a new protocol in the lab for the isolation of EVs from urine and to assess their bioactivity in vascular cells. The next step is to pursue a PhD in this field, which consists in the development of a biotechnological platform for the delivery of extracellular vesicles in in vivo models.Furthermore, I enjoy bioentrepreneurship. I have participated in several entrepreneurship training programs and competitions. As a result, my team was awarded the 1st prize in the National contest "Elevator Pitch - Bolsa de Empreendedorismo", category "Early Phase Project" (organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Portugal) and also the StartUp Voucher grant from IAPMEI for the development of a product.
