At its premises in Northern Spain, SONRIONANSA S.L. runs a commercial hatchery with a production capacity of over 40 million juvenile fish. Also a main producer of mollusc spat in Spain, its prime activity is the hatchery operation and juvenile production of seabass and seabream, selling its products throughout the Mediterranean markets. The company has been the first european marine hatchery to certify all of its production as Organic according to EU regulations.I am responsible for Innovation and R&D. Development of new products and business lines. Management of the internal and external R&D Project Portfolio (including National and EU Collaborative projects). Technical support of Production Department. Economic evaluation of research outcomes. Technology transfer. Consortium building. Writing of R&D&i Proposals for local, national and EU government. Fund procurement. Budgeting and implementation. Identification of new technologies. Development of rearing protocols for target species (Sole). Bio-sanitary and Health Management. Company representative and liaison in collaborative national and international projects.

Founded in 1973, Tinamenor is the pioneer Spanish company in marine fish farming. Today, Tinamenor is part of one of the leading groups of the Spanish aquaculture sector, Grupo Tinamenor, which operates from hatchery breeding to table-fish production and commercialisation.

Seafish Aquaculture is a non-departmental government body that carries out research and development to support the British Aquaculture Industry. My remit included the management of the research team, promotion, design, negotiation and management of R&D projects of relevance for the industry, management and co-ordination of hatchery production with the needs of the research department, liaison with project partners, dissemination of results in academic and industry forums and to the general media, technology transfer and technical support to the industry. Projects included Haddock Farming demonstration project; Ontogeny of cod and haddock immune systems and vaccination strategies; First feeding and larval management of Atlantic halibut; Haddock juvenile nutrition; Copepod culture; Broodstock nutrition; Low cost recirculation systems for Aquaculture; Feeding strategies of cod in cages and environmental impact; Design of a Modular Submersible Mussel Raft (EU CRAFT Project) and closing the final report of Cod Farming Demonstration Project.
