    Thesis title: Novel relaxations for global optimization of mixed-integer nonlinear programs.Academic advisor: Professor Nick Sahinidis.My doctoral research focused on the development of theory, algorithms and software forglobal optimization of nonconvex optimization problems. As part of my research, I have:• Analyzed the effect of novel relaxations approaches based on functional transformations onthe performance of branch-and-bound algorithms for global optimization.• Devised new optimality-based domain reduction algorithms for nonconvex nonlinear programs(NLPs) and mixed-integer nonlinear programs (MINLPs).• Proposed novel convex quadratic relaxations and domain partitioning strategies for nonconvex mixed-integer quadratic programs (MIQPs)• Implemented the above-mentioned techniques into the global optimization solver BARON, leading to order-of-magnitude speedups for a variety of problems arising in scientific applications and outperforming other state-of-the-art solvers including CPLEX and GUROBI.During my PhD, I was one of the co-developers of the optimization solver BARON, a state-of-the-art computational system for solving nonconvex optimization problems to global optimality. BARON has been licensed by some of the world’s leading companies and universities, and has been used in more than 50 countries.
