The team serviced a multitude of applications under CIB and they were all mission critical to the operation of the bank. Incident management, working with other technology teams to get to the root cause was critical. As the manager, responsibilities included proper coaching, skills training and career path development as well as setting short and long term goals to be met for performance criteria.
Principal Engineer - Technical Team Lead
In a team lead role working directly with internal technology teams as well as IBM Professional Services to create a video transcoding platform using fourteen different WebSphere cells and multiple other vendor technologies to move content in a workflow-based system and deliver it to a variety of customers, both internal and external via Wireless and over the top cable technologies. Deployed the platform in Production and was the lead in charge of the application support for the entire platform which meant intimate familiarity with every aspect of the platform, from Aspera asset ingest delivery to Rhozet transcoding and then to the different jumps it would have to take within the IBM Business Process Manager to get through the workflow and end up successfully transcoded in a different format for customers like Viacom and Associated Press and our Verizon Wireless user base. Operationally was in charge of a team which analyzed heap dumps whenever there were fatal faults within the system and was on call 24/7/365 as the subject matter expert for all of the IBM products. Setup the ESXi and vCenter infrastructure with NetApp ONTAP in Cluster mode and was also in charge of managing the professional services vendors during upgrades to the ONTAP storage versions and to test the storage arrays to make sure there were no bottlenecks there due to I/O restrictions. Worked directly with the lab to ensure all change management procedures were properly captured and documented before being promoted to Production and would regularly test the deployment process in a PLE (Production Like Environment) to make sure everything was in order. Communicated regularly with executive management about the deliverables and showstoppers that were caught during patch deployments for new bug fixes.
