During my time at Pappasitos, I had multiple responsibilities and wore many hats. As a server, my aim was to provide guests with the best dining experience possible by providing friendly and attentive service. I was well-trained, which allowed me to anticipate the company's needs during busy shifts. I also ran all drinks and food as a team player. As a trainer, I welcomed all new employees and assisted them in any situation. Lastly, as headwait, I had the highest level of serving and was responsible for setting the standards for all employees. At the end of each shift, I collected the restaurant's money and ensured that all servers completed their sidework.

Objective: raise $16,000 within 8 months; Exceeded objective by 125% ($20,000) within 6 months. Through this creative and empowering idea, I was able to unite a group of like-minded and passionate individuals to network with high school/college students, engage with health professionals and the community, as well as raise $20,000 for a FREE health professionals conference. I pitched this ambitious idea to the President, Provost and all of the deans from the university, as well as spoke with the owners of surrounding hospitals. The mission of The Coastal Bend Health Professionals Initiative is to empower local youth through educational opportunities so that they may discover their desire to heal members of the coastal bend community and beyond. By introducing these young individuals to passionate, like-minded leaders, we can inspire and prepare the next generation of leaders to serve society for years to come.

Upon accepting the 2017 National Youth Advocate of the Year Award from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK - an international nonprofit organization that advocates in favor of reducing tobacco consumption), I sat on a National Board of Directors as the youth representative among America. Through these quarterly meetings, I presented updates from youth advocates across the states who took the fight against big tobacco to their state laws. In addition, I was engaged with annual budgets and networked with key people from the American Heart Association, MD Anderson, American Cancer Society, and more. Over the years, I spoke to congressmen on Capitol Hill and even advocated for laws in Texas and my hometown.

After garnering public attention toward a Comprehensive Smoke-Free Ordinance for Ingleside, TX, I was granted funds through the American Heart Association based on my leadership abilities to get the ordinance into public voting via election. American Heart Association and I teamed up to train my fellow peers to go door-to-door for petitions and phone calling the public citizens to vote “yes” on the smoke-free ordinance. I met with the city secretary and councilmen on more than one occasion.
