Carlos Xavier Viegas is a Senior researcher in ADAI and head of the Field Tech Lab of the University of Coimbra. He is currently an Auxiliar Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Coimbra. He is also Co-Founder of two technological startups: Bold Robotics, Lda. and Sim4Safety, Lda. His area of research includes mobile and service robotics, as well as technological solutions for wildfire protection and fighting. He is the main coordinator of three national projects related to robotics and forest fires, the Informat, SAP and IMFire. He presented and published his work in several International Conferences and Journals. In 2017 he concluded his Ph.D. in Robotics and Industrial Management, from the University of Coimbra. In 2013, he finished his Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Coimbra, Portugal. He also did a brief period of studies at Czech Technical University in Prague, during his bachelor’s studies, and at INRIA Bordeaux Sud-Ouest during his Ph.D..
