Worked as a full stack developer in an agile team to develop and maintain central web services and systems at the University of Kent. This included a diverse portfolio of systems including "Pantheon" the in house engine behind the Kent University websites, the mobile app, tours system, courses system, modules system, student portal and many other systems. The majority of applications were built in PHP/MYSQL with some java and perl applications mixed in.Key achievements include: * Improving performance of the core website buy upwards of 70%.* Standardising the stack for the majority of the applications maintained by the team.* Creating api.kent and a variety of other shared libraries (across teams) * Moving the technical teams from SVG to GIT.Along side my core role I also ran the annual Hack-day (3 years running), was a member of the Tech-Talk team and Security Group, chaired of the Developer Catchup meetings and was also a fire marshal.

My role within the R&S web team was to designed and developed new snippets to meet the needs of departmental web authors within the university.During my time in the team I contributed a number of central improvements to the pantheon template engine. I also developed a new QA tool (to aid site upgrades), worked on an automated upgrade tool build in Node.JS and developed a number of new features for the in house time management system (built using the Java Play framework).

During my placement year at Thomson Reuters I worked as part of the UKI PSG group to deliver a range of internal web applications.The key systems included the PSG Projects System, which allowed employees to streamline their workflow by making relevant data easy to access and the Find a Client tool, a quick access system to allow staff to easily access information on clients.I also developed a number of proof of concept applications, including a demo of an automated dispatch system.
