Management and supervision of Program Specialist Team to provide mentorship to 60 teachers at 13 schools implementing an Orton-Gillingham-based curriculum for students in RTI, special education, and general education. Designed and facilitated training and monthly professional development. Supervised bi- monthly teacher observations evaluating the efficacy and quality of instruction, data meetings, and leading ongoing professional development. Created lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments for phonics curriculum utilizing the Orton-Gillingham approach. Secured partnership and contracts with Shelby County Schools, Gestalt Community Schools, and Aspire Public Schools.

Responsible for identifying, developing, and engaging 150 active members across 9 school and community teams. Active members take a minimum of two actions per year to better their school and community. Responsible for obtaining 1,000 Momentum Memphis Commitment Cards. Managed and organized four Task Forces focused on College and Career Readiness, Facilities and Funding, Community Investment, and Breaking the School to Prison Pipeline.

Managed Response to Intervention at five schools serving 1,400 through coaching school-based RTI coordinators, completing data audits, and designing professional developments to increase instructional best practices. Identified 80 students in grades 3-8 across five schools to receive gifted services on a weekly basis through a localized identification process. Designed and taught a rigorous, social justice-oriented curriculum that ended with a culminating community-empowerment project at each school.

The Tennessee Educator Fellowship brings together a diverse group of educators from across the state who are passionate about their profession and student-focused education policy. During a one-year term, the Tennessee Educator Fellows learn about, reflect upon, and inform the policies, practices, and systems that affect student achievement and educator effectiveness. They also serve as liaisons between their colleagues, their communities, policymakers, and advocates as Tennessee continues the work of improving educational outcomes for all students.

Helped design, implement, and facilitate a year-long social justice experience for 20 Fellows made up of Teach for America Corps Members, Alumni, and Staff. Programming included field trips, cultural competence development, and service projects all aiming to deepen Fellows commitment to and understanding of social justice issues. The fellowship includes a deep dive into mass incarceration, homelessness, police brutality, economic justice, and their interconnected relationship to education.

Led professional developments for 25 incoming corps members during their summer training experience to ensure they considered the cultural context and oppressive history of schools in Memphis. According to weekly survey results, 85% of participants found design and facilitation and applicable and impactful in each session. Developed and facilitated a space for eighty white corps members to explore identity, white responsibility and silence, and what it means to serve low-income people of color given our white identity.

Served as the case manager for approximately 20 students. Responsible for collaborative planning to ensure all learning tasks are accessible for each student, advocating for students with disabilities at school leadership meetings, planning and implementing remediation for students, building and implementing IEPs and behavior intervention plans.

RESULTS’ mission is to create the public and political will to end poverty by empowering individuals to exercise their personal and political power for change. REAL Change Fellows learn how to organize their communities, build relationships with their members of Congress, and influence the budget process so that fighting poverty is prioritized. In addition, Fellows learn in depth about several U.S. poverty issues, including EITC, CTC, tax fairness, the racial wealth gap, and SNAP.

Selected from approximately 40,000 applicants nationwide to join national teacher corps comprised of leaders who commit a minimum of two years to teach in public schools. Participated in an intensive training program to develop the skills and knowledge needed to achieve significant gains in student achievement. Taught in a summer school program run by Teach For America for students in Memphis under the supervision of a faculty of experienced teachers. Engaged in a comprehensive program of professional development including seminars, discussion groups, workshops, and content and professional learning communities specific to teaching license areas.

Served as a classroom teacher for up to 32 first grade students. Responsibilities included lesson planning, classroom management, implementing academic and behavioral intervention systems, working with students with IEPs, and collaborating with other teachers in the building to ensure all students have a quality education.

Developed a five-day community marathon representing each of Shakespeare’s 38 Plays. Responsible for recruiting over 30 groups and 1,500 participants, allocating the $6,000 budget, and designing marketing materials. Under my leadership, Shake38 grew from 500 to nearly 1,5000 participants and attendees and expanded from a 38-hour marathon to a five day event.

In addition to general administrative duties and maintaining organization for office and employees, responsibilities included maintaining the executive calendar, conducting marketing and development efforts, and arranging travel for special guests.

Season long position. Responsible for assisting in overseeing and managing audiences up to 4,000. Also responsible for coordinating volunteers with nightly tasks and ensuring satisfaction and efficiency with all parties.
