Provided customer assistance for specialized research support in person and via online systems, providing information through databases, web search, and other information sources. o When student staff who provided some drop-in research assistance were providing substandard assistance, I collaborated with colleagues to create a training manual for student staff that provide a more consistent knowledge base for new student staff. Trained students, faculty, and other campus constituencies on specialized resources, search tools, and software. o Facing more requests for training from regional campuses than we could handle in the campus interactive television (iTV) classrooms, I piloted using web conferencing software to provide remote training to regional campus classes. o I coordinated librarians and course instructor pairings for sessions of an oral communications course. o Needing better asynchronous training options, I co-wrote a successful proposal to purchase a subscription to LibWizard, software for creating self-paced interactive tutorials, to create research tutorials that could be accessed by customers at any time. Provided customer assistance for specialized research support in person and via online systems, providing information through databases, web search, and other information sources. o When confronted with customers needing more time for in-depth assistance than our drop-in model supported, I proposed and implemented an appointment model to complement our drop-in model, which resulted in an increase in longer (10+ minute) research sessions. Trained students and other campus constituencies on specialized resources, search tools, and software. o Because students were disengaged because they were receiving the same research training in two required first-year courses, I collaborated with my supervisor and faculty customers from those courses in to created standardized training lessons to be split across those two courses. Analyzed library collections, technologies, and policies for improvement areas. Managed electronic journal subscriptions and collected electronic usage statistics.

I provided reference and readers advisory for both adults and children.

My position consists of two components: reference and literacy instruction. For half of my appointed hours, I provide patrons with reference service in-person, on the phone, via email, and through chat. The other half consists of teaching sections of a one-credit undergraduate information literacy and research skills course (ISLT 1111).

I am out on the floor of the library, answering patron questions and introducing them to the reference librarians if I cannot help. In addition, my responsibilities are reshelving returned items, shelf reading the stacks, finding items requested for holds, and emptying the book drop.
