The North-West University Pro Bono office is a government funded initiative. As the name states, the Pro Bono office provides free environmental consulting services to local municipalities. Senior environmental consultants work hand-in-hand with students to provide a service to both the local community and prospective environmental consultants. I was involved in a community project, in terms of a basic assessment, for the development of a cemetery. During this project I was exposed to public participation, site assessments, research and various EIA processes.
