Led started up of this special purpose company to develop, finance, design, construct and operate a 500 barrel per day biorefinery at a paper mill in central Wisconsin. Led the development of this Department of Energy supported project that utilized a proprietary gasification and Fischer-Tropsch technologies to convert 870 tons per day of woody biomass into renewable fuels, chemicals and steam.

Managed Homeland Renewable Energy’s development and operations businesses, including Fibrowatt, Homeland Biogas Energy and Homeland Bioenergy Service business units. Recruited and led staff of 17 business development, environmental, engineering and finance professionals in the development of multiple 55 megawatt poultry waste-to-energy projects and 2,000 mmBtu per day anaerobic digester projects to convert dairy manure to renewable natural gas. Oversaw operations of the Fibrominn 55 megawatt poultry waste-to-energy project and three anaerobic digester projects converting dairy manure into electricity. Contributed to the development of a third party 75 megawatt woody biomass project and assisted in improving operations at a large third party dairy manure to renewable natural gas anaerobic digestion project.

Developed renewable energy projects using Fibrowatt’s innovative technology to generate electricity from poultry waste. Set up this UK based company’s US subsidiary. Led a multi-disciplinary team in the successful development permitting, financing, design, construction, startup and operation of the Fibrominn Project, a 55 megawatt poultry waste to electricity project located in western MN, the first of its kind in US and the world’s largest. Played key role in the financing of the project, raising $202 million in non recourse debt.

Vice President of Project Development, Philadelphia, PA (1997 – 1998)Developed and acquired new projects; conducted due diligence and prepared purchase and sale term sheets. Developed and implemented a new corporate strategic vision based on acquiring existing power plants at substantial discounts and modifying plant equipment to use revenue-producing waste-derived fuels. Identified more than a dozen project opportunities and conducted economic feasibility studies. President, Northeastern Power Company, a subsidiary of Reading Energy Company, McAdoo, PA (1995 – 1996)Turned around this struggling $150 million anthracite-mining waste-to-energy project that utilized advanced circulating fluidized bed boiler technology. Increased annual cash of this 50 megawatt project positioning it for a successful sale.Vice President of Project Development, Reading Energy Company, Philadelphia, PA (1987 – 1994)Developed independent power projects that use revenue producing waste-derived fuels. Developed and financed the Robbins Resource Recovery Project, a $438 million municipal solid waste-to-energy project located in suburban Chicago. Sold equity interest in the project for $40 million.
