Originally from Des Moines, IA with strong interests in both Construction and Architecture, Carlton thrived for technical knowledge and leadership skills starting early attending Home Building courses at Central Campus (Secondary High School) (Des Moines, IA). Carlton served as SkillsUSA State President of Iowa from 06'-07' competing at State and national levels for Prepared Speech and TeamWorks (3 Day Building Competition). After graduating high school, Carlton attended Milwaukee School of Engineering for Architectural Engineering from 07'-08' to further his education and enhance his desire for Design and Architecture. Desiring a career path more focused on Construction Engineering/Management, Carlton returned to Iowa to attend Iowa State University College of Engineering majoring in Construction Engineering and specializing in Structural Design & Construction Management graduating in Fall 12'. Relocating to Orlando, FL in '12 to pursue Construction Management, Carlton gained a decade of construction experience including role(s) as a Project Engineer, Project Manager, and Senior Project Manager in Commercial Special Projects Groups in Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale/Miami Markets with experience specializing in multiple construction markets (office improvements, tenant buildouts, hospitality renovations, commercial retail, continuing works, transit, aviation, and restaurant projects). Carlton performed Owner's Representative Services for Developers, Investors, and Property Managers from July '22 - July '23 focusing on Hospitality work and assisting them through the entire construction process such as budgeting, design development, 3rd party inspections, Owner procurement, FF&E, GC solicitation & management, C/A services, overall schedule management, coordination with Owner's operations teams, change orders, etc. In August '23, Carlton relocated back to Iowa and started a position as Senior Project Manager with The Hansen Company located in Johnston, IA. The Hansen Company is a General Contractor focusing on Client care with a commitment to transparency and collaboration. This diverse project portfolio solidified Carlton's reputation for his work ethic, strong client relations, contract administration & negotiation, scheduling acumen, and lasting impression of quality execution at all levels of work. Outside of real construction, Carlton enjoys living an active lifestyle being involved in daily exercising, tennis, basketball, disc golf, and running.
