Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% in how we deal with it. True joy and happiness rarely happens without pain and suffering. Whether it is making lemonade when life gives you lemons or finding that silver lining in a bad experience, I take pride in moving forward and trying to have a positive impact on the lives of others.My journey includes a lengthy, expensive, high-conflict divorce and custody battle that was entirely unnecessary. What I learned was that the system, and less so my ex, was to blame. The system placed our children in the middle and pitted my ex and I against one another for no one’s benefit except the lawyers. And, courts allowed it to happen.The inspiration and passion for SplitSmart.com comes from that brutal experience. My goal is to organize divorcing couples so that they can avoid a similar fate. Whether figuring out money or kids, it is amazingly simple when there is transparency, accountability and organization.Social injustice and racial inequalities are finally getting their well deserved time in the public eye. The injustices and indignities of family court and child support also deserve attention and reform.
