Provide direct therapy and transitional support to individuals recovering from an acquired brain injury and/or serious trauma. Work under the direction of regulated health professionals, coordinated by the Bartimaeus Rehabilitation Service Director. Emphasis is placed on: establishing therapeutic rapport, communicating effectively, prioritizing ongoing activities and developing practical strategies.

Provides case management to effectively ensure a safe and timely return to work of employees with both work-related and non work-related injuries and illnesses. Responsible for management of short and long term medical absences including collection of medical information to support the payment of sick benefits. Determines suitability of work based on functional ability and job demands. Work collaboratively with managers and employees to develop supportive and effective return to work plans. Perform physical and cognitive demands analyses and workstation ergonomic assessments and leads wellness initiatives. Responsible for assessment and evaluation of incidents, work procedures and environments to identify potential hazards and provide recommendations to eliminate them or ensure adequate controls are in place.

A member of a multidisciplinary team responsible for assisting in the delivery of quality rehabilitation service under the supervision of a physiotherapist or occupational therapist. Implement the treatment plan as outlined by the supervising therapist. Carry out activities developed by the therapist, assist in evaluation and intervention activities, prepare materials and supplies and maintain the work environment. Demonstrate awareness of role boundaries between therapists and assistants and function within the role definition. Participates in the education of patients and/or appropriate caregivers, students and other health care workers under the direction of the therapist.
