As a component of the UCF Counselor Education MA program, I am completing 20+ hours per week for two semesters of internship working with adult clients seeking support for severe mental health and substance abuse concerns in an inpatient residential (RTC), partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient (IOP) setting. Under the supervision of a licensed clinician, I lead 3-6 one-hour psychoeducation group counseling sessions per week to provide clients with practical and healthy coping skills using a curriculum that embodies both CBT and DBT frameworks. Example topics I have covered in these groups include communication patterns, attachment styles, boundaries, schemas, cognitive distortions, dialectical thinking, mindfulness, grounding, decision-making, emotional literacy, and more. I also conduct biopsychosocial and substance abuse assessments with newly admitted clients, create comprehensive treatment plans collaboratively with licensed clinicians and their clients, and assist clients with completing continuing care forms and Crisis Safety Plans in preparation for discharge.

I monitor between 30 and 45+ undergraduate SI Leaders’ completion of regularly occurring administrative tasks in Canvas. I also co-facilitate 1-hour meetings for our SI Leaders’ continued professional development twice weekly. Each semester, I collaborate with the SI leadership team to develop and facilitate a two-day employee training. Additionally, I assist the Supplemental Instruction Coordinator with screening and interviewing potential SI Leader candidates.

In my second semester of practicum at UCF's Community Counseling & Research Center (CCRC), I conducted three 50-minute counseling sessions with individual child and adult clients weekly for twelve weeks. Upon admission and throughout treatment, I assessed clients using the Psychosocial Inventory, YOQ/OQ-45, PEARLs/ACEs, and Brief Mental Health Status Exam. For each client, I designed treatment plans using either a CBT or DBT framework that addressed presenting concerns such as coping with symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, low self-esteem, and interpersonal relationship conflict. I also completed progress notes in Titanium EMR software using the DAP format within 48 hours of each counseling session.

For each client on my caseload, I designed treatment plans grounded in evidence-based theories such as CBT and Narrative Theory. I also completed progress notes in Titanium EMR software using the DAP format within 48 hours of each counseling session.

I collaboratively designed the curriculum for and co-facilitated two 1-hour group counseling sessions weekly for nine weeks with 6th - 8th grade students at Conway Middle School under the supervision of the school's guidance counselor. One of the groups consisted of twelve 7th & 8th grade students which focused on cultivating developmentally appropriate healthy coping skills, communication skills, academic development skills, and social awareness skills in preparation for transitioning from middle to high school. The second group consisted of three 6th grade students with a similar curriculum to the first group with a focus on adjusting to the transition from elementary to middle school.

I co-supervised 200+ elementary-aged children at Hillcrest Elementary School to ensure their physical safety, academic engagement, and peer cooperation. Each day, I was responsible for designing and facilitating interactive performing and creative arts-based activities for the children. I also tutored all of the 2nd and 3rd grade children in all subject areas.

I utilized a strengths-based approach modeled after the Wraparound process to provide targeted case management services to youth in Palm Beach County ages 7-17 identified as being at risk for out of home placement due to emotional disturbances. I conducted monthly home and school visits in the community working closely with my caseload of 9 clients and their families as we developed service plans that outline S.M.A.R.T. goals aimed at meeting my clients' individualized priority mental, emotional, behavioral, physical, and academic needs. Through advocacy, linking to community resources, planning, and ongoing evaluation, I facilitated the development and strengthening of my clients' natural and community support systems as we work towards increasing their self-awareness, independence, and progress towards age-appropriate development and overall wellbeing.

I pioneered this novel position that was developed to increase internal referral processing efficiency in response to department challenges incurred by COVID-19. I managed all internal referrals received from each department at Operation PAR, Inc. averaging 130 per month to connect existing clients with additional agency services. To achieve this, I organized the internal referrals using Excel spreadsheets and submitted the data for monthly reporting to the department supervisor. Additionally, I assisted with interviewing and training new Access Center Specialists and Care Coordinators.

I remotely administered bio-psycho-social assessments to clients seeking higher levels of care using the Global Assessment of Individual Needs (GAIN) instrument and received certification as a Site Interviewer through Chestnut Health Systems. Using clients' self-report data, I created treatment recommendations to satisfy clients' legal, child welfare, or pain management requirements by generating interpretive summaries and reports. Upon receiving approval from the V.P. of Clinical Services, I then distributed these reports to authorized parties to coordinate clients' continued care in accordance with HIPAA and CFR Part 2.

In my first post-undergraduate position, I serviced dozens of incoming calls daily to provide individuals, families, case managers, and other legal parties with comprehensive information about Operation PAR, Inc.'s services for dual-diagnosis clients. I screened and scheduled clients for medical detox, outpatient counseling, inpatient residential, and medication assisted treatment based on my acquired knowledge of each program's eligibility criteria. I also documented and scanned externally-sourced clinical data into myAvatar, an EMR software.

As a part-time Brand Associate, I organized and stocked merchandise by size and style in designated displays within each of the six sales floor departments from memory while under time constraints. I also provided quality customer service by presenting current promotions that maximize customer savings.

I had the privilege of completing an internship through InternFSU at Florida State University's Academic Center for Excellence in their Peer Assisted Study Sessions, or 'PASS' program. The PASS program was designed around the Supplemental Instruction Model. Students who previously earned excellent grades in a class identified as having some of the highest rates of student withdrawal and repeat enrollment are invited as PASS Leaders to design and lead group study sessions that assist students currently enrolled in those challenging courses seeking additional study support. As a Classroom Evaluator, I observed and evaluated PASS Leaders' adherence to the Supplemental Instruction Model in three 90-minute study sessions per week. Immediately following the session, the PASS Leaders and I would discuss what went well to reinforce effective student engagement techniques and offer specific suggestions for improvement. I also led biweekly Classroom Evaluator collaboration meetings, as well as designed and executed three lesson plans on cultural competency and study skills during weekly PASS staff meetings.

I sorted the department's incoming mail by category and in alphabetical order by sender. I then counted the number of items per batch and logged these counts on cover sheets to scan into a computer database. Once scanned, I filed the batches into crates in chronological order for further processing.
