Fitz Center For Leadership In Community

The Graduate Assistant for Community Engaged Learning and Scholarship supports the mission "As the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community, through collaborative action with community partners, faculty, staff, and students, to cultivate civically engaged leaders and equitable communities." The Graduate Assistant reports to the Assistant Director of Community Engaged Learning and will work collaboratively with the Assistant Director in supporting the goals of the unit, particularly supporting reciprocal engagement through collaborating with key community partners, students, faculty, and staff to encourage civic engagement in a way that promotes learning, values diversity, fosters vocational discovery, responds to the identified needs of the partners, and serves the common good. The Graduate Assistant for Semester of Service is primarily responsible for assisting with the coordination of the Semester of Service program, including recruiting, communicating, placing, monitoring, and orienting student participants. The Graduate Assistant will help supervise and mentor student in their community placements, supervise an undergraduate intern, and will sustain community partner relationships critical to the development, sustainability, and funding of the Semester of Service program.

Learn about the purpose and goals of Alumni Relations and Enrollment Management. Research other institutional best practices for how alumni can support enrollment management activities. Develop and propose implementation of a program for engaged alumni mentorship and admitted students called the "Alumni Ambassador Program". Present summary of findings and recommended program to Advancement colleagues at the conclusion of the internship. Participate in CASE training programs geared towards young professionals in higher education advancement.
