About Carly Buchanan, Bsn, Rn

I have always had an interest in the care of infants and children, however, I began my adult nursing career working with veterans 7 years ago at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City. In the fall of 2015 I began traveling as an RN and have had the privilege of working in 14 hospitals and living in 8 states, yet my passion and strong interest in neonatal nursing has not gone away. I have begun pursuing neonatal education by taking the STABLE course, and have completed both the NRP class and the PALS certification class. I have enjoyed studying this subject and find the information intriguing. My time as a Travel RN has increased my flexibility and time management as I have had many opportunities to adapt quickly to various protocols and organizational differences. As a result, I have become skilled in critical thinking and communication. I go to each new facility with a desire to learn and a willingness to ask questions. This experience will be an asset as I begin a new nursing specialty.
