During this interchange (Jan-Dec 2022), I focused on research regarding the Government of Canada's social media monitoring/social listening activities within the context of public environment analysis. This research has informed both my PhD dissertation, and insights/recommendations for communications executives in the GC.In addition, the interchange involved:-Developing a course for social media practitioners within the GC;-Offering professional development workshops to students in Carleton's SJC;-Teaching a course in Public Affairs and Policy Management.

Building CIC's social media presence through development of a social media strategy and corresponding processes. Working to raise engagement with CIC's social media channels through effective use of communication tactics and cross-promotional opportunities. Manage departmental channels on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn, and select forums.Responsibilities include:-Providing strategic advice to senior management on all issues related to social media;-Liaise with colleagues across the Department on social media campaigns and schedules;-Lead day-to-day social media operations for CIC (content development/approvals based on existing schedules and public environment; gathering and analysing metrics; establishing partnerships, etc.);-Supervision of a social media strategist (IS-03) and advisor (IS-04) ;-Development of a social media strategy for CIC, with ongoing evaluation and development.

Has also acted for significant periods of time at the IS-05 level.In POR, duties include:-Coordination of contracted and non-contracted quantitative and qualitative public opinion research -Survey design and implementation-Working with POR firms to conduct POR projects, including in the development of statements of work and contract requisitions-Liaising with other government departments, public works, PCO, and the Minister's Office-Analysis of quantitative and qualitative data from both primary and secondary research-Reviewing and analyzing media coverage to assess external stakeholder groups-Projects have included: advertising pre-testing, ethnographic focus groups, usability testing, internal and external client satisfaction surveysIn consultations, duties include:-Development of consultation plans and coordination of consultations (Minister, DM, and Director-led)-Assisting in public and stakeholder e-consultations, including liaising with program areas and strategists, questionnaire and backgrounder review, coding in FluidSurveys, assisting in the creation of consultation reports-Liaising with other government departments, public works, PCO, and the Minister's Office-Enabling implementation and customization of stakeholder database (including assisting in trouble-shooting, providing administrative support, training staff, and development of training and user documents)
