Hi! I’m Carly, a Planner with the Policy Planning and Special Programs department for the City of Vaughan!Throughout my career working in the public sector, I have gained experience in both development planning and policy planning. Some examples of work I have taken on include development projects at various scales from Minor Variance Committee of Adjustment applications in a small Township to Block Plan applications in the City of Vaughan. I have worked on both city-initiated and applicant-driven Official Plan Amendment applications. Additionally, I have worked on three very different and unique Official Plan Reviews for the municipalities of the Township of Essa, Prince Edward County, and the City of Vaughan, providing me with a diverse range of knowledge in how to plan for both small and large municipalities with different planning contexts to the same growth horizon. My passion for environmental advocacy has led me to enjoy using my spare time to volunteer for various environmental organizations such as Wildtracks, the Sustainability Committee through the Carleton University Student Association, and Parks Canada. I developed a model Weeds and Grass by-law for the City of Toronto which was recently adopted and am proudly the 2020-2021 recipient of the Canadian Institute of Planners Student Presidents Award. Let's connect about the power of planning to achieve a more sustainable and innovative future!
