About Carmel Balks

We are a family owned and operated building company, servicing the Waiarapa. Anthony became self employed in 2016, I was always in the background helping out with the books as much as I could while working 4 days a week, taking care of our 3 children and running our busy household - which includes 2 French Bulldogs and a Cat! In my spare time, I love painting, trying to stay as active as possible and have even had a dabble at gardening recently!I have a wealth of experience in Sales & Administration after working 7 years for a Agri Software Company that serviced clients nationally and internationally and 4 years at RIVAL Wealth, assisting their many financial advisers whom help clients all over NZ become financially organized.After COVID hit, I decided to leave my part time job Mid 2021 and put my work focus into our business. This has allowed the best kind of work/life balance as well as the opportunity to get stuck in and ensure smooth running's. I have transferred skills I had learnt in my many years of working in an office and have loved the challenge of learning and upskilling in different areas of the business.

I have transferred skills I had learnt in my many years of working in an office and have loved the challenge of having many different projects on at once, having the boys here, there and everywhere and learning and upskilling in different areas of the business.We are a small team with BIG passion to deliver quality workmanship and couldn't achieve what we have without Anthony, the Boss Man and his 14+ years in the industry, Nic our qualified builder who has been with us since Aug 2018 and Elijah our casual laborer who came on board in Oct 2021 and works part time while studying to become a social worker.
