About Carmelita Pena

My career trajectory has been interesting and challenging, which suits my need to learn and evolve very well. Twice I have been hired as an anomaly to the typical hire. The first time was as a Manufacturing Engineer with GE Lighting’s plant in Monterrey, Mexico, and subsequently as a Contact Engineer with NOVA Chemicals in Red Deer, Alberta. As a non-electrical engineer with GE, I earned a CEO-sanctioned promotion to the role of Project Manager, and as the first manufacturing engineer with NOVA, I was promoted to the role of Reliability System Specialist.I possess two significant talents: I am fiercely committed to learning and I am a formidable problem-solver. It is these traits that have propelled my career forward.Certified Project Manager, I also hold a Six Sigma Black Belt in Lean Manufacturing, and Time Studies training. My work has included vendor selection and procurement strategies, risk assessment and quality and safety standards, managing project scopes, costs, schedules, and change; I’ve worked as a New Product Introduction engineer, for which I coordinated design and provided support for automated work processes.Samples of my accomplishments include:- Doubling shipping capacity with a warehouse redesign.- Creating best practice safety improvements.- Coordinating hand over to Operations of 24 Facility Maintenance Turnaround projects – and establishing a new record for eliminating delays.I approach all projects and tasks with proactive energy and communicate with transparency. The diversity of my experience has helped me to learn quickly, think outside the box, and apply a growing wealth of engineering knowledge. Most effective in Project Management, Quality Engineering, NPI, and Manufacturing Engineering, I am ready for a new long-term commitment. I invite inquiries – please connect with me via LinkedIn or email me at Carmelita.pena@gmail.com.
