  • Fema
    Surge Capacity Force Volunteer
    Fema Oct 2024 - Nov 2024
    Washington, Dc, Us
A critical component of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Surge Capacity Force provides vital support in times of disaster or crisis. As a volunteer, I had the opportunity to contribute to disaster response and recovery efforts in a state that hasn’t experienced a hurricane of this magnitude since 1977. The work itself was both challenging and profoundly meaningful. I assisted in various tasks, including coordinating logistics, supporting disaster recovery centers, and helping residents navigate the complexities of federal assistance. Each task, no matter how small, contributed to the broader mission of restoring normalcy to communities in need. With the Surge Capacity Force, FEMA is able to rapidly scale operations to meet the immediate needs of affected population, ensuring that no community is left behind in the aftermath of such a disaster. Being part of that effort was not just a professional commitment but a deeply personal one. It was a chance to stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow volunteers across various government agencies, emergency personnel, and local citizens in the fight to rebuild and recover.
