The Position• Reporting to the Plant Manager, responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and management of the quality/compliance systems. Primary liaison with key stakeholders such as NZFSA, AsureQuality, MedSafe, Taylor Preston Management, Supervisory and General staff and the lead role in internal, and external, National and International audits from both regulatory bodies and customers.Key Achievements• Reduced the direct person hours required for the Risk Management Programme (RMP) by 20% through a needs analysis. TPL was then able to take a more innovative approach to compliance management which translated to a competitive advantage• Stream-lined microbiological sampling program for greater staff efficiencies, and sampling compliance to local and export regulations• Minimised recalls and destruction of product by improving pathogen management• Identified critical points of food safety and implement controls for these while applying innovation to other parts of the processes for the better of both TPL and customers• Developed relationships with the regulatory body (NZFSA) based on values around trust and respect, a mutual understanding was developed that changed the relationship between regulator and producer, to one of cooperation and mutual understanding of each others’ positions. This enabled TPL to progress with some areas of compliance previously untouched through the difficult relationship that had previously existed.• Actively participated in National advisory groups which enabled direct involvement in re-writing Industry Codes of Practice, and Export requirements in conjunction with NZFSA
