Managing partnerships and grant investments across an integrated and sizeable portfolio of a $1B+ private family foundation. Primary focus areas include early childhood, founders' legacy, and biomedical grants, as well as multi-generational family engagement in giving. Led foundation grantmaking, governance, and operations work at Intentional Philanthropy, a boutique philanthropic consulting firm in Bethesda, Maryland. Served as a philanthropic advisor on strategic grantmaking, governance, and donor intent projects. Served as Executive Director for the Solon E. Summerfield Foundation, a foundation with a multi-million dollar grants portfolio investing in higher education and career pathways access and success for youth. Served as Director of Grants and Operations for the Mead Family Foundation, a local family foundation engaging 2nd and 3rd generation descendants of the donor in philanthropy focused on empowering youth to have crisis-free lives, strong families, and excellent education. Also led internal work planning and staff training for Intentional Philanthropy's team.

As a key consultant, conducted benchmarking studies which generated the valuable Foundation Operations and Management Report, and Foundation Salary and Benefits Report. Work included developing the surveying instruments, managing fielding and data collection, cleaning and analyzing the data, and writing reports for an audience of foundation staff and trustees looking to benchmark their own operations and better understand best practices.

Developed printed and online resources and conference sessions for foundation staff and trustees covering all areas of running a private foundation. Worked with foundation staff and trustees in interviews and advisory groups to learn about innovative and streamlined best practices. Served as Managing Editor of a quarterly newsletter, and Project Director for Foundation in a Box; contributed to the writing, editing, and publishing of hundreds of articles and frequently asked questions.
