MSc Final Research Project in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the Physiology and Biochemistry of Animal Nutrition department, Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). This project consisted in the study of the effect of glycosilation in the activity of plant protease inhibitors of Bowman-Birk family from soybean. Some of the highlights of this work have been:- Development of a model system for studying the interaction of reducing sugars in the inhibitory activity of Bowman-Birk inhibitors.- Determination of trypsin and chymotrypsin inhibitory activity of the two main Bowman-Birk isoforms in soybean under variable conditions of pH, presence/absence of glucose and time of exposition to a heat treatment.- Peptide mass fingerprinting combined with in silico analysis to determine those points in the inhibitors' sequences where the glycosilation may have taken place.

Undergraduate Research Project in the characterization of a C-terminal domain from an O-acetyltransferase. Some of the techniques and laboratory skills acquired during this work were:- E. coli transformation for subsequent expression and purification of the protein of interest.- Different chromatographic techniques for protein purification: affinity, ion exchange and size exclusion cromatography.- Crystallization by hanging drop technique, establishing a screen of different crystallization solutions.

My position as a student intern enabled me to gain experience in the laboratory work and learn further in the main Molecular Biology techniques: DNA and RNA isolation, protein purification, RT-PCR or blotting.
