•Managed trim developments on a seasonal basis and retained development calendars to guarantee target deadlines were achieved. •Established and maintained supplier relationships by on-boarding and educating suppliers on existing processes/expectations and ensured supplier performance met the company standards by administering a development trial run.•Broadened supplier base on a global level by researching local resources and supplier capabilities to improve cost and lead-time.•Developed and managed innovative quality program in partnership with a 3rd-party lab to conduct facility evaluations/audits that ensured quality was built into the raw material by monitoring the presence of restricted substances, taking a proactive approach that alleviated testing failures, production delays and potential sales loss due to harmful materials.•Rolled out the quality program to 50+ garment vendors and 200+ suppliers, located in 10+ countries. Conducted analysis that determined highest risk product categories, trim categories and regions then prioritized how program was rolled out, based on results. •Established tools to educate suppliers and vendors on how to prepare for audits and improve initial scores, resulting in a 30% increase of the quality program’s approved supplier base within an 18-month time frame.•Formally introduced and presented the purpose and benefits of the quality program to executive level leaders, stakeholders and other retailers gaining approval from all and resulting in closing supplier base for the Children’s division to only those that could achieve passing quality scores.•Researched trim trend and provided trim direction to design and garment vendors demonstrating how to best interpret each trend within pricing confines. •Achieved sustainability success from a trims perspective by promoting a more consistent message of “cold water wash” on garment care labels meant to encourage energy efficiencies after point of sale with all customers.
