Served as executive director of the Hawaii state chapter of Common Cause; oversaw the state chapter’s lobbying, fundraising, and outreach activities, and the engagement of its 4,000+ members. Managed a team of 30 campaign volunteers across Hawaii’s four main islands. Lobbied at the city, state, and federal levels on bills related to government procedures, voting and elections, campaign finance reform, net neutrality, and transparency in government. Active in media relations, and established relationships with regional and national publications. Active in stakeholder engagement, coalition-building, and community organizing.–Common Cause Hawaii aims to: strengthen public participation in government; curb the excess influence of money in politics; ensure that government serves the common good, rather than special interests; promote fair, honest, and transparent elections; and fight for a vigorous, independent, and diverse media. Since 1970, Common Cause Hawaii has been a leading “good government” voice advocating for improved process-related measures that affect our democracy. We believe that process-related issues and improvements are a universal issue that impacts our social and economic policies. Common Cause Hawaii is a state chapter of Common Cause, a DC-based nonpartisan grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy.
