Assistant, Small Molecule Ip At Sandoz
Following several years in patent law firms, I joined the Small Molecule patent team at Sandoz, one of the world’s leading generic-drug companies, where I coordinate all of the administrative requirements for a team of 27 patent attorneys, including organizing a monthly seminar series held via video conference across several sites, collaborating on projects to improve internal processes, scheduling and servicing leadership team meetings, producing and distributing monthly reports, arranging travel and handling expenses, and undertaking ad-hoc projects as needed. In addition to supporting the Small Molecule team I also coordinate events and projects for the larger Sandoz IP Group, which include the organization of town halls, outside-counsel seminars, team-building events, and internal trainings.
Editor, Writer, And Hebrew-English Translator
I edit documents across a broad range of subjects. In 2013 I earned a Professional Sequence in Editing diploma from UC Berkeley, providing me excellent grounding in grammar, copyediting, and substantive editing. I have also authored a variety of texts, including content-marketing articles, blog posts, bids and grant applications, and more.I have been a Hebrew-English translator for over fifteen years, translating texts in a variety of fields, including finance, marketing, engineering, academia, and film and television. My credits include a seafood cookbook by a renowned restaurateur in Israel and three seasons of Rechov Sumsum, the Israeli Sesame Street. My pro bono translation work has included grant applications and fundraising presentations for an organization offering wilderness therapy to at-risk youth, and donor appreciation letters, a research study, and web content for an organization offering hot lunches to school children.
Intellectual Property Paralegal
Building on my previous patent paralegal role, which focused primarily on patent-prosecution administration, at Grund Intellectual Property Group I was responsible for end-to-end administration of the patent process, from filing, through grant, to validation. I managedall incoming correspondence, docketed patent-office and client deadlines, and independently prepared a variety of patent-office filings and client correspondence.
Intellectual Property Paralegal
January 2008 - June 2010At Grünecker I independently managed a deadline-heavy patent-prosecution portfolio focusing on physics, engineering, and software. I composed correspondence to clients, international counsel, and the European Patent Office regarding procedural aspects, and edited reports and submissions pertaining to substantive matters. I also filed patent applications and oppositions, compiled statistics and reports, prepared presentations, and administered all aspects relating to billing. In 2010 I centralized the firm’s electronic billing functions, establishing procedures, writing manuals, and training staff. Within four months of the centralization I was able to recover over fifty thousand euro in unpaid invoices.
Research Repository Data Administrator
In this role I implemented the university’s policy to increasing open access to its academic publications, and trained academic staff (professors and research associates) to deposit publications into the repository, including guidance regarding copyright compliance in the context of copyright transfer agreements. During this time close to two thousand items were uploaded to the repository, more than doubling its scope.
Administrative Assistant - Research
At the School of Health I coordinated the administrative needs of seven professors and several research associates, freeing up their time to engage in substantive research. In this role I edited research reports, academic articles, and Ph.D. theses, and analyzed research data. I also organized and serviced meetings by preparing agendas, taking minutes, distributing action sheets, and following up on open tasks. I coordinated the scheduling, budgeting, catering, and publicity for a monthly internal seminar series and several external seminar events, and also coordinated a launch event at the British House of Commons for a special report on independent mental health advocate services in England.
Bid Writer / Documentation Specialist
As a subcontractor at Israel Aerospace Industries, I coordinated the production of several UAV bids (RFIs and RFPs) for aircrafts ranging from mini-UAVs to MALE UAVs. In this role I analyzed bid requirements, compiled data from various engineering disciplines, and composed and edited bid content into cohesive bid documents in line with company branding policies. In this context I created a bid library to eliminate duplication and ensure uniformity of content. On a joint international UAV project with EADS, I also compiled and edited management reports and presentations, and controlled the transfer of documents in a know-how transfer sub-project, including screening for security-clearance compliance and monitoring adherence to project milestones.
Bilingual Personal Assistant / Editor
As a Hebrew-English PA I supported the Director of the Hebrew-language program and managed a pedagogic centre serving over fifty teachers across two campuses of a private high school. In this role I also edited curriculum documents and study materials in both English and Hebrew, and designed and published six Hebrew-language textbooks, managing budgeting, production, and sales.
Executive Assistant
In this role I coordinated the administrative aspects of a venture capital investment portfolio of technology start-ups. I composed, edited, and translated financial documents and reports, managed complex calendars across time zones, coordinated meetings and conference calls, arranged travel, and handled other administrative tasks.
Personal Banker
I joined CIBC after a three-month high school co-op program in accounting, starting out as a teller and progressing to the role of a personal banker, providing financial advice regarding savings, investments, loans, and mortgages. I worked in a number of branches in Toronto, and also spent a year and a half working at the bank's Toronto call centre, first as a customer service advisor, and later as a call-quality monitor. While working at the call centre I was awarded several quarterly “Achiever” recognition certificates for exceeding sales, service, and quality targets.
