Caro Kemp Email and Phone Number
I've been working in sustainability, environment and climate related jobs for twelve years, both employed and in a freelance capacity. I'm very much a people person and have a lot of experience in community engagement and behaviour change. In a previous job I delivered many sessions of Climate Literacy and got to be really proficient at delivering in-person training and workshops. Two things I'm extremely passionate about are active travel and equality. In my current job I'm lucky enough to combine both, but unfortunately the funding is ending, so I'm looking for a new role, hopefully where I can champion walking, wheeling and cycling for everybody. In my spare time I like to fix my friends bikes and give a new lease of life to old second hand ones. I'm also co-founder and chair of an organisation that aims to empower women, non binary and transgender people aged 18-118 through free music classes, in a wheelchair accessible venue. We've been going for 9 years and don't plan on stopping anytime soon!

Behaviour Change OfficerSustrans Oct 2019 - Apr 2022Edinburgh City, Scotland, United KingdomCo-producing a community action plan to increase active travel in Wester Hailes: A large-scale active travel infrastructure project was being planned for the Wester Hailes area of Edinburgh, so we wanted to ensure that it would be used by a greater diversity of people. Talking to local people and working with 20 local community groups, we co-produced a behaviour change action plan, using an asset based approach. The completed plan made it possible to secure funding from the local authority which was used to deliver led cycle rides for women, Dr Bike sessions, 'fix your own bike' sessions, Bike Register events and a 'considerate path user' campaign. All of these interventions were delivered by local organisations. Further funding was then obtained to purchase benches and signposts for the local paths, and for staff of local organisation SCOREScotland to carry out consultation with the community as to where they should be sited. -
