Nyack Hospital

I was the Program Director for the Wound Care Center® at Nyack Hospital, an account contract site for my company, Healogics. Healogics, Inc. is the largest Wound Care management company, with 570 Centers across the US. As Director, I was the sole Healogics representative, with all of my staff employed by Nyack Hospital. I maintained excellent relationships with the Hospital client, developing goal alignment and demonstrating value. I was responsible for the overall operations and marketing of the outpatient wound care program, including business development, personnel management, quality assurance and financial analysis. I was also responsible for all aspects of the revenue cycle, scheduling, registration, documentation, coding, billing, audits and ensuring reconciliation accuracy. I recruited, hired and directed 4 staff nurses and a Clinical Manager. I worked closely with the Medical Director as well as 6 panel surgeons. I collaborated with the Clinical Manager and the Medical Director to develop, implement and manage a Performance Improvement program that has led us to clinical excellence, ensuring program’s integration with the partner Hospital. In more than nine years as PD, I led the program to successful growth through a creative marketing plan as well as direct sales through developing relationships with referring local physicians and surgeons. I cut expenses and increased patient visits to earn significant net revenue for Nyack Hospital compared to a loss prior to my arrival in 2004. We successfully exceeded our budget by reaching 104% to plan for 2013.

As the department manager of all non-clinical staff at this busy NYC emergency department, I oversaw approximately 50 1199 union employees. My main objective was to find new revenue sources for the ED as well as manage and oversee operations and staff for all registration, testing, ordering and other non-clinical areas.I created and implemented the "Discharge Desk" where all patients were brought to prior to being discharged from the ED. At the discharge desk, copayments were collected (they weren't prior to this at the time of service), insurance was verified and demographics were reviewed. This led to a collection of $3000 in just the first month. Today, the discharge desk is still running successfully.

This (now out of business) company oversaw all operations and management for 17 HIP (insurance) centers across New York City. We maintained policies and procedures, found ways to improve efficacy of clinical practices and created new methods for increasing productivity while decreasing spending.I wrote and implemented policy and procedures and completed weekly site visits for all 17 centers. Under my management, we discovered wasteful spending in areas such as pharmaceuticals and supplies. I also uncovered some overtime abuse within 2 of the centers, which I immediately rectified.
