Forward STEPS is an initiative that focuses on community learning about poverty and neighbor economic mobility.The initiative examines poverty with individuals, businesses, schools, and other organizations to discover what contributes to being under-resourced, how to break the generational cycle, and provides critical information the community can use to take action to end poverty.These experiences can be tailored to the age, knowledge level, and number of participants, and can be held on-site or at another location. Past participants include corporate teams, teachers, college students, health professionals, volunteers, and more.Getting AheadThe curriculum involves rigorous work done in a safe learning environment with the support of an experienced facilitator and co-facilitator. Participants, called “investigators,” are encouraged to examine their own experience of poverty and explore issues in the community that impact poverty.Program facilitators guide investigators through an assessment of their own resources and how to build those resources as part of their move to self-sufficiency. Getting Ahead puts the concepts, tools, and relationships in the hands of people in poverty to make a difference in their own lives and in the life of their community.

Thanks for visiting my LinkedIn page and getting to know me a little better. One of my biggest professional (and personal) accomplishments I have achieved in the past few years is being nominated for the Athena Award. It makes me so proud and humble to know my charity work is appreciated. I know we all do good work without expectations of being recognized, but I have to tell you that when you are recognized, your desire to help and do more is doubled!My job at PrimeTrust continues to evolve. I started over nine years ago as a one-man-show. Now, we have a team of people working on the marketing and social media. I act as the liaison between the marketing firm and the credit union. The exciting part is this frees up time for me to work on my passion – events and charity work. I hope the next year will see me working more in social media for the credit union. We are launching new products and services for our members, including a new Web site, so this is the perfect time to ramp up our social media.I plan and execute all the events for the credit union, from the Annual Meeting to After Hours Chamber Events. I also get to work with a wonderful group of people to raise money for various local charities. We raise money for a different charity each month, in addition to larger fundraising programs for local organizations, like Relay for Life and our Christmas Families. These fundraising programs last several months and overlap with the monthly fundraising.I enjoy working several part-time jobs to keep my skills sharp. This also gives me an edge as Marketing Director by keeping me involved in the community.
