Duties entailed conflict resolution, inspections, and serving on technical review panels for contract acquisitions and facility user committees. In addition, involved in oversight and inspection of the Morgan Island primate colony. This included compiling the annual reports required by AAALAC, USDA, and NIH.Accomplishments: • Programmatic improvements and cost savings: Conducted research that identified a cheaper and equally effective sentinel for pinworms. Findings led to cost savings in the rodent health monitoring (2003). • Consulting and Cooperating with Other Federal Agencies: Consulted and cooperated with the USDA and the FDA regarding the proper disposition of sheep slated for return to the public upon completion of a biomedical research project. The end result was a revised policy on NIAID acquisition and disposition of farm animals.
