I lead, collaborate, advise, research, write and speak principally on the impact of and responses to climate change on health, as well as on migration, healthcare under fire, and humanitarian principles for this independent emergency medical humanitarian organization. HACE helps MSF to adapt operations and do anticipatory action. In Nov 2022 I joined MSF's delegation at COP27 in Egypt to raise awareness on the health and humanitarian consequences of the climate crisis and environmental degradation and urge and support immediate action. I've worked for MSF in Rwanda, South Sudan, the Congo, East Timor, Kenya and Peru, as was the liaison for MSF's global Access to Essential Medicines Campaigner in Canada. I have presented before Canadian Parliament, the Peruvian government, and the World Trade Organization, amongst many others.

Led two incubator projects with multidisciplinary teams for MSF's Transformational Investment Capacity to help MSF working in over 70 countries to increase environmentally sustainable medical humanitarian care to ensure we are more effective but also responsible and contributing to health co-benefits of decarbonization. In Kenya, Mexico, Honduras, Switzerland and Canada, did initial measures of MSF's carbon footprint to inform action, behaviour and policy change. The project became a major large-scale initiative of MSF in 2022.

Clients include Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). For SLF was rapporteur in Malawi in Dec 2008 for a meeting with grassroots organizations from across Africa supporting Orphans and Vulnerable Children, in Uganda in April 2010 as co-facilitator of a meeting on Documenting AIDS Projects and as rapporteur in November 2010 with SLF and the Graça Machel Trust for a planning meeting with groups supporting survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in seven African countries including DRC, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda etc. Reviewed hundreds of grant proposals to SLF to shortlist and analyse trends and themes and write reports. For MSF researched and co-wrote about MSF's experience bringing HIV/TB treatment to Khayelitsha, South Africa, wrote and presented before Canadian Parliamentary review on the Access to Essential Medicines Regime.

The Homeward Bound Project is an extraordinary leadership and strategic initiative. It aims to enhance the influence and impact of women in science to ensure the sustainability of our beautiful planet. This year-long state of the art program will see 77 women scientists from around the globe develop their leadership, strategic and scientific capabilities with a focus on climate, biological and earth system research. The program will culminate in an expedition to Antarctica.

The Museum of AIDS in Africa (MAA) aims to be the world’s premiere public institution to collect, preserve, interpret, share and exhibit the history of the origins, spread and impact of HIV/AIDS in Africa as well as the past and present experiences of the pandemic. It will be located in South Africa and has a target opening date of 2018. Managed all aspects of seeking non-profit legal status, all organizational operations, board governance, outreach, public program creation, exhibition planning and launching, staffing, volunteers, strategic thinking, grant proposals.The MAA’s vision is “to transform the individual and social response to the African AIDS epidemic by honouring those who have lost their lives, empowering those infected and affected, building knowledge and inspiring about the history, science and response to the pandemic, to support the ultimate goal of an Africa free from AIDS.”

Food and cultural history book with expedition cook and visual artist Wendy Trusler weaving stories, recipes, journal excerpts, scientific notes and images from early expeditions to the bottom of the world with those from a modern-day environmental expedition. Organized and led the Russian-Canadian expedition on which this book is based. Was printed as a limited edition December 2013. Sold out. HarperCollins US is publishing it in May 2015. Public speaking, research and expert advising.

For Dignitas secured a grant from Open Society Institute (OSI) Law and Health Initiative for a Roundtable meeting and practical training with partners (medico-legal-psychosocial-social-justice) who provide integrated services to survivors of gender based violence. Coordinated and co-wrote advocacy reports on drug-stock outs in Zomba, Malawi (for media and G20 June 2010) and on Bill C393 (to streamline Canada's Access to Essential Medicines Regime) before Canadian Parliament on export of generic medicines to developing countries.For International AIDS Conferences (IAC) in 2008, 2010 and 2012 was lead author of two collaborative research papers on gender and HIV responses, for IAS was a volunteer Abstract reviewer and on the UNDP technical advisory committee to recognize leading organizations for the Red Ribbon Awards.

Was MSF's Access to Essential Medicines Campaign Liaison for Canada. Represented MSF at the WTO Mini-Ministerial meeting in Montreal (2003) on the FTAA, initiated MSF's advocacy to urge the Canadian Government to implement WTO trade flexibilities in national law to export generic medicines to developing countries, presented twice before Canadian Parliament (2003, 2007) representing MSF. Supported MSF's awareness raising and advocacy including on use of artemisinin to treat malaria, on access to health care in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Peru, integrated prevention and treatment for people living with HIV and TB worldwide, etc.In 1998 an 1999 did humanitarian affairs missions to South Sudan and in 1996 worked for MSF in Rwanda. Was Board Member of MSF Australia in 1998-2000 and undertook exploratory research for MSF to assist asylum seekers in mandatory detention in Australia and did a short mission to East Timor following violence post-referendum for independence from Indonesia in 1999.

The Diplomacy Training Program (DTP, in the Faculty of Law, University of New South Wales) is a practical training for human rights defenders in the Asia-Pacific Region and Australia. The DTP was founded by Dr. José Ramos-Horta (Nobel Peace Laureate and President of East Timor) to share his experience advocating for East Timor through international human rights law, media and diplomacy. Coordinated and co-led trainings for Burmese refugees in Thailand (Thammasat University), Tibetan refugees in Dharmasala, young Aboriginal leaders in Australia and human rights defenders from nine countries in Darwin, Australia (Northern Territory University).

Organized and led two pilot environmental clean-up expeditions with civilian volunteers to Antarctica with Polish Academy of Sciences to Henryk Arctowski Station and the Russian Antarctic Expedition's Bellingshausen Station. Created and led civilian projects in Costa Rica including to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve to remove a visitor trail in the habitat of a protected endangered frog species-the Golden tree frog (now possibly extinct).
