South African Businesswomen Development Network encourages and promotes the importance of entrepreneurship in creating jobs and eradication of poverty in Tshwane, especially in townships. Furthermore, we want to promote and inculcate the culture of self-reliance. Having identified all the challenges facing the society of South Africa we realized that the only solution is to promote and support entrepreneurship and cooperatives initiatives and support business people, especially women and youth. For starters, there is an urgent need to encourage people to establish their own businesses, cooperatives or enterprises and for South African Government and other relevant agencies to support these initiatives. There is an acknowledgement that the Country has programmes through its Economic Development division which are aimed at supporting business. The only challenge is that the government y’s efforts do not filter down to the small businesses, especially women and youth owned enterprises. Ignorance might be one of the reasons, but lack of resources such as capital, access to internet as well as lack of information regarding available support from the government as well as other relevant agencies (public / private sector/ NGOs). VISION To take the lead in championing women and youth economic empowerment issues. MISSION Create a platform for business networking and to empower women and youth through workshops and training Programmes. OBJECTIVES The organization’s main objectives are: To encourage and promote entrepreneurship Promote job creation and eradication of poverty Promote and inculcate the culture of self-reliance and sustainability Create a platform for dialogue and networking between businesswomen and other sectors such as public, private and NGOs.
