In the last 20+ years, I have spent time in all the following; law, accounting, HR, operations, business development, knowledge management, project management, coaching, training and even interior design. It may have looked (and sometimes felt) like my career was careening out of control. As CEO of Ichiban Tax & Business Advisory LLP however, each of these experiences has found a home in the many responsibilities I bear. Here’s a highlight of some of my favourites. (For more reach out for a breakfast date):-♞ At Totally Sorted Limited, I assisted many law firms streamline their operations for efficiency and to line them up to achieve their goals. 2 clients attributed their winning the Kenyan Law firm of the Year Award to the work we did together. ♘ One of my flagship trainings entitled ‘Law as a Business’ has helped many a firm disseminate the understanding of their business to all staff which increased ownership and reduced mumblings about bonuses once staff understood what it takes to keep the business afloat. ♞ My strength in financial management has seen me invited severally by the Law Society of Kenya and the Architectural Association of Kenya to train their members on practical ways to manage their finances. Slush funds for Tax obligations, Capex and reserves are a key way I have kept business afloat even in tough economic times.♘ My work with Futures First (Kenya) Limited and Issa & Co, Advocates had me project manage their interior design projects with the result that has earned both entities international acclaim. ♞ It is a delight to maintain contact with former employees who I mentored and trained and see them outgrow my firm and move on to greater pursuits. That I am still in touch with the lady who was my first administrator in the year 2011 is testament to this.Beyond the office, I am an avid home-maker. Home for me is a warm place where family and friends always feel welcome and safe:-✿ Smells of home-made cakes and food permeates our home. My skills can be rivalled only by my daughters’.✿ I embroider! Fast becoming a lost art, but still, something I enjoy to do✿ Our home is full of books of all subject matters and great coffee ✿ My home is my primary interior design project and the most heart-warming comment was when a friend visited and asked if the apartment came pre-furnished – everything looked perfectly in place!✿ Travelling! Travelling helps me learn new cultures, new recipes, new art forms and appreciate home even more when I get back.
