The rule that I live by as an EA is as simple as "Whatever it takes to enable my executive to be as efficient and productive as they can be"... Sure - there are all the important qualities called for in a great EA - having personliased expertise, mastering the calendar, prioritising the personal, anticipating needs, respecting and managing confidentiality, having effective spoken and written communication skills and a personality that effectively aids me when interacting across all levels - and I work on improving/ maintaining/ excelling at these everyday. But it was perhaps most enlightening the day I realised I have a servant's heart; that I want to serve - my Collective, our business, my team, my executive. It probably sounds pretty crazy to some, but I believe it is the bedrock of this role. Only with that commitment and loyalty, can I support my executive to achieve their goals and in turn mine. "Whatever it takes to enable my executive to be as efficient and productive as they can be" - means no one's too senior, and no task to lowly (yes, there are reasonable limits, of course! And I know when to push back too!)Finally - I do find cooking a great past time and very much enjoy taking local cooking classes whenever possible on travels. It is the therapy I most look forward to post organising and running conferences in different cities of Asia.
