About Carol.Carol commenced her career in Insurance back in 1992, winning the SGIO Employee of the Year in 1994. Carol ended her Insurance career completing her Diploma in Financial Services and as an Insurance Rep quoting on Commercial Businesses 2004.After a stay in Egypt working with Northsyde Consultants she returned to Perth and commenced with the Not for Profit organisation Community First Intl in 2005 as an Employment Consultant, after 6 months was promoted to Team Leader. Carol worked with a compatible team that turned the 3 STAR site to 5 STAR.A short break in 2009 to gain further education experience in Cert4 Human Resources, Carol returned to Community First, 2010, as a Site Manager for Rockingham, leading 11 staff to success earning the Best Performing Site, 2 consecutive months. With this Carol was then asked to lead the Mandurah site which had 21 staff.Carol and her team won the Most Improved Site 2012 and each employee was awarded an Ipad 2.Moving into disability employment is a very rewarding role. Carol was engaged at Forrest Personnel between 2012 - 2013 with the understanding that the 3 STAR performing site has a need for some positive changes and the challenge of gaining a 5 STAR rating. Working intensely with a great team of people who had the same vision rewarded the site with 5 STAR rating by Oct 2013.Carol commenced with VisAbility (formerly The Association for the Blind of WA and Guide Dogs WA) at the end of October 2013, a need was recognised that vision impaired or blind clients struggle with gaining sustainable employment. With determination, understanding and passion this organisation has a vision that people who are blind or vision impaired share a quality of life equal to other Western Australians in the workforce.

Our program has seen 28 participants gain sustainable employment in its first year.The employment program has been operating since Nov 2013 and after the initial development/infrastructure went full on in January 2014 with the accomplishment of our first placement of a participant into an Auditing role. VisAbility employment continues to develop personalised, on the job workplace relationships between employers and employees. It is my role to transition people who are vision impaired into regular and sustainable employment and change the mindset of society that people with a disability do indeed have capabilities to undertake successful employment, then I support both the employer and employee in the initial stages of employment by way of technology/equipment or social support.I am proud to have been recognised for my achievements and hard work throughout 2014 and will continue to strive for the best outcomes for another fabulous result at the end of 2015.
