The council advises and recommends practice standards regarding the performance of acts relative to nurse anesthesia, nurse ​midwifery, nurse practitioner and clinical nurse specialist practice.

Urgent Care Nurse Practitioner, independently seeing patients in the Norton Immediate Care Centers. Care provided includes adult and pediatric patients with management of common urgent care needs. Immediate care with assessment and treatment of, but not limited to, Flu, URI, pneumonia, bronchitis, pharyngitis, allergies; chest pain with EKG interpretation; UTIs and STD labs and treatment; foreign body removals, common dermatological problems (insect bites, rashes, dermatitis, urticaria); acute joint injuries and fractures; laceration repair with local prep; common GI issues (diarrhea, gastroenteritis, nausea); eye problems (corneal abrasion, foreign body, pink eye); treatment of minor burns, cuts, and wounds

Emergency Room Nurse Practitioner, independently seeing patients in the ER and Acute Care Center. Care provided includes adult and pediatric patients, gynecological emergencies, and management of acute health problems. Immediate care with assessment and treatment of, but not limited to, acute respiratory distress (pneumonia, COPD acute exacerbation, bronchitis); chest pain with EKG interpretation; DVT, cellulitis; ingrown nail removals with digital blocks; UTIs, renal calculi; severe cerumen impaction removals; acute joint injuries (sprains, meniscus tears), laceration repair, local prep; GI issues (acute cholecystitis, hepatitis, pancreatitis, GERD); acute depression; fertility issues
